Founder - Chief RE-Designer
Renowned sustainability expert Anthony Lilore has devoted his 30+ year fashion career to design, production and building networks that help the fashion industry clean up its supply chains and design mindful solutions to re-source consumption.
Apparel Magazine named him a Sustainability All-Star and a Top 40 Innovator in 2011. In 2012 he was chosen by the U.S. Department of State to be the Cultural and Textile Arts Envoy to Thailand for Innovation & Design in American Fashion. He is a founding board member of ‘Save the Garment Center’ and NYC Fashion M.A.D.E., and he’s been a lecturer, panelist, teacher and juror at FIT, Parsons, Pratt and the California College of the Arts.
A talented designer, Anthony worked in design, technical and production capacities for Bill Blass, Perry Ellis, and Club Monaco, plus the upper echelon of the cosmetic, fragrance and spa industries.
Now with THROW NYC, he’s turning his design, sourcing and production skills into a RE-design effort—utilizing his extensive factory, showroom and designer contacts for an endless supply of materials in need of up-cycling.
Managing Partner - Catalyst
Born and raised in Brazil and living in New York by way of Germany, Eliane Said is a true citizen of the world. Arriving in New York with a business degree in economics, she immediately started working in the fashion industry importing a high-end lingerie line from Brazil, and later joined as an International Senior Manager - LELO, a luxury romantic accessories line from Sweden. Some years ago, she embarked on what she calls “a journey of betterment,” focusing on the collective consciousness and our responsibility to others, and that’s what led her to THROW.
“I was reading the Code of the Extraordinary by Vishen Lakhiani and I came across the concept of “humanity-minus” and “humanity-plus” companies. Right then and there I made the decision to only associate with companies that were humanity-plus,” says Eliane. Quoting Vishen: “You don’t have to save the world, just don’t f--k it up for the next generation”.
Having known Anthony for years from the fashion industry, she was impressed by his commitment to sustainability and eager to start a new company with him. “With THROW, I am excited to "take on" the culture of waste and repurpose with passion, creating something beneficial and beautiful. This is our heart."
We divert materials and extend their lifespan
We repurpose, remake, use, reuse & repeat
We create objects of desire
We sustainably make scarves, masks, bags, totes and more
MADE IN USA
We have been fortunate to have been included in the pages and blogs of some of today’s most followed "voices."
“The current, linear fashion lifecycle model of ‘make, use, dispose’ is commonly referred to as ‘cradle to grave.’ At THROW NYC, we aspire to a more continuously cyclical ‘cradle to cradle’ model of ‘repurpose, remake, use, reuse and repeat’, says THROW NYC founder and sustainability expert Anthony Lilore.
Fashion is said to be among the world’s largest polluters and textiles comprise almost 6% of U.S. landfills. THROW NYC’s mission is to divert such materials destined for the landfill into beautiful objects of desire for you! THROW NYC’s team has extensive manufacturing and showroom contacts in the fashion industry, meaning nearly unlimited access to materials in need of up-cycling.
